Time flies generally when we are engrossed and engaged in activities. The issue is that if we examine how we spend our leisure time, a lot of it is mindless watching of televisions/dvds etc, that doesn’t stretch us in terms of abilities and skills.

When I recall how I used to spend my weekends before my daughter was born, it was not always flow as I also played computer games but after the game didn’t feel that satisfied or happy although I whiled away a few hours at a time.

But time flies for me nowaday, maybe I am doing something I enjoy :p, so I will probably only read it if I still remembered about it in the future.

The paradox of control basically says that if you feel in control of your challenge/situation (even if you are not), that adds to the enjoyment of the flow experience. Example would be gamblers who think they can control their odds of winning on bets that are 50-50.

As you get more into flow experiences, time takes on a different meaning. E.g. when you are so engrossed in your favourite book/activity, time flies

You should pick up and book and have a go. Some parts are a bit dry but the general message is compelling to me
